Stuttgart Named Host City for Germany’s Finals 2027

Local leaders plan to integrate new sports at downtown landmarks to foster grassroots participation.

Overview

  • Stuttgart’s city council voted on July 17 to host the Finals 2027 from July 31 to August 3.
  • Since its 2019 debut in Berlin, the Finals has combined national championships into a “mini‐Olympia” format showcasing athletics, swimming, gymnastics and more.
  • Finals GmbH director Hagen Boßdorf said new sports will join the 2027 program to tap into regional enthusiasm and broaden the competition slate.
  • Competitions will take place at established sports arenas and unconventional city‐center sites curated by Sports Mayor Clemens Maier.
  • Organizers intend to leverage the rotating host model to engage spectators, support local clubs and drive urban economic impact.
