The New York Times falsely reported that a player, Kai Spears, was in the car when its windshield was struck by bullets.
The Times will correct their coverage and append an editor's note to the story.
Though two people have been charged with capital murder from the shooting, neither the manager nor the player were harmed.
Spears is suing the Times for defamation and invasion of privacy due to their incorrect reporting.
