Streamwood Man Charged with First-Degree Murder in Sisters’ Stabbings

Prosecutors approved charges Tuesday with Jenkins hospitalized in custody, postponing his scheduled detention hearing.

Overview

  • Jalonie Jenkins, 25, is accused of fatally stabbing his sisters, 21-year-old Janiya Jenkins and 10-year-old Eyani Jones, at their Streamwood home on May 28.
  • Officers found both victims with stab wounds inside the townhome on the 1600 block of McKool Avenue when they responded around 7:50 p.m.
  • Investigators recovered Jenkins’s vehicle in Bensenville on May 30 before arresting him near a Downers Grove Metra station on June 1.
  • The Cook County State’s Attorney approved two counts of first-degree murder against Jenkins on June 3.
  • Neighbors said two younger children fled to a nearby home for help during the attack, and the community has left flowers and candles outside the family’s residence.
