Stray Dog Rescued from 12-Foot Well Under Texas Home After Days of Barking

The basset hound mix, named Timmy, was saved by a team of animal control and fire department rescuers and adopted days later.

A renter in Longview, Texas, discovered barking coming from beneath his floorboards, leading to the rescue of a stray dog trapped in a 12-foot-deep well.
Animal control officer Bobby Jumper and a team of eight rescuers worked for three hours to safely lift the dog using makeshift slings made from fire gear.
The dog, a 2-year-old basset hound mix later named Timmy, was found unscathed aside from minor injuries and was given food and water immediately after the rescue.
Following efforts to locate the dog's owner, rescuers determined Timmy was a stray and placed him for adoption at the Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center.
Timmy was adopted three days after the rescue by a Dallas woman, bringing a happy ending to the community's collaborative effort.
