Stranger Things’ Season 5 Trailer Confirms Three-Part Finale and Teases Vecna Targeting Will

The Duffer Brothers say the final season will finally explain the Upside Down.

Overview

  • Netflix sets the rollout: four episodes on Nov. 26, three on Dec. 25, and a standalone two-hour finale on Dec. 31 that streams at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and plays in more than 350 theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
  • The official trailer shows Hawkins under military quarantine, Eleven in hiding and training, the party regrouping to hunt Vecna, and a tense face‑off in which Vecna tells Will he will use him “one last time.”
  • Creators Matt and Ross Duffer say the trailer includes shots from every episode, including the finale, while a brief red energy flare teased will feature in Volume 2.
  • Season 5 is set in fall 1987 and shifts Netflix’s usual drop time to early evening to encourage shared viewing and reduce overnight spoiler pressure.
  • New footage and synopses confirm returning leads and introduce Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kay, who leads a government effort to capture Eleven.
