Overview

• Mersey Ferries halted all cross-river services and cancelled tonight’s Country Night Cruise due to adverse conditions.
• Fallen trees blocked multiple Merseyrail routes, suspending the Southport line between Formby and Southport and stopping services on the Hunts Cross/Ormskirk and Headbolt Lane lines near Aughton Park and Walton.
• Damage to overhead wires between Crewe and Runcorn disrupted Avanti West Coast and West Midlands Railway services with cancellations, delays up to 60 minutes and disruption expected until at least 14:00.
• National Rail activated ticket acceptance on East Midlands Railway, Merseyrail, Northern and Transport for Wales, with replacement transport running between Stafford–Wolverhampton and Crewe–Liverpool Lime Street though availability is limited by road conditions.
• The disruptions affect southbound journeys from Liverpool Lime Street, with some services starting at Crewe, and have been reported to impact Liverpool FC supporters travelling to London for the 5:30pm match.
