Stolen Dirt Bike Listing Leads Troopers to Homer Home Packed With Guns and Drugs

Two residents now face multiple weapons plus drug counts as the case moves into early court proceedings.

Overview

  • Troopers obtained a warrant and searched the Carley residence in Homer on Jan. 14 after tracing a Jan. 12 Facebook Marketplace post for a dirt bike reported stolen in 2024.
  • Investigators say Clayton Carley was evasive during an initial interview and provided false information about the sale before the warrant was executed.
  • Seized items included more than 40 rifles and shotguns, three handguns, five assault-style weapons, a loaded short-barreled shotgun, high-capacity magazines, two daggers, a baton, brass knuckles and over $5,000 in cash.
  • Troopers also recovered approximately 18 pounds of cannabis flower, six pounds of concentrated cannabis, more than a dozen mature plants and about five ounces of psilocybin mushrooms.
  • Clayton J. Carley, 26, and Jeffrey C. Carley, 60, were arrested on multiple counts tied to weapons and controlled substances, and the stolen dirt bike was later surrendered by a Buffalo-area buyer to State Police in Hastings.
