Stoke-on-Trent 'Goldilocks' Burglar Jailed for 20 Months After Two Home Break-Ins

The judge cited her extensive record, warning a further dwelling burglary would carry a three-year minimum term.

Overview

  • Jade Cobden, 32, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after pleading guilty to two dwelling burglaries in Bucknall and Bentilee.
  • During the June 28 break-in on Christine Street, the occupier found she had used the washing machine, drunk from a mug and may have slept in a bed and used a toothbrush.
  • At the July 2 incident on Dividy Road, she appeared spaced out, laughed at the victim's son and items including candles, tobacco, food and alcohol were taken.
  • The court heard she has 31 previous convictions for 77 offences, and the judge described her as a professional and habitual thief.
  • Mitigation cited homelessness and Class A drug addiction, noting a reduced methadone dose in custody and the loss of contact with her children placed for compulsory adoption.
