• Homicide detectives identified a suspect after Sunday’s shooting, and officers from the Gang Street Enforcement Team and San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputies located the suspect vehicle and made a 5 p.m. traffic stop.
• James Allen, 72, was taken into custody and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of homicide and narcotics violations.
• Officers responded around 8:30 a.m. to West Hazelton Avenue and South Harrison Street and found a 60-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
• Life-saving measures were attempted, and the victim died at a hospital; police have not released his name.
