Overview
- Arran Donnelly, 28, received six years and nine months in prison and an eight-year four-month driving disqualification with a mandatory retest.
- He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving after losing control of an Audi A3 in Reddish on 24 February 2024, killing passenger Ryan Evans, 27.
- CCTV showed the car traveling far above the 30mph limit and witnesses estimated 70–80mph before it mounted the kerb and hit a wall near Houldsworth Mill.
- A video from Evans’ phone captured Donnelly with a nitrous oxide balloon about two minutes before the crash, and officers found balloons and large canisters in the car, including one with his DNA.
- Police concluded driver error most likely caused the collision, and a GMP detective said evidence showed speeding and nitrous oxide consumption while driving.
