Overview

  • Friesen’s car vaulted over an ARMCO barrier, burst into flames and was struck by another vehicle during the Super DIRTcar Series King of the North race at Autodrome Drummond on July 28.
  • He suffered an unstable open‐book pelvic fracture and a broken right leg, both injuries confirmed by Jessica Friesen to require surgical repair.
  • CT scans have ruled out head, neck and spine damage, and Friesen remained alert while being extricated and moved to a local hospital.
  • On Wednesday he was transferred from Trois‐Rivières to a New York medical center, where his vital signs are steady as surgeons prepare multiple procedures on his pelvis and leg.
  • Halmar-Friesen Racing retains its owner’s playoff berth secured by his Michigan victory but must plan for driver coverage during his recovery.
