Steven Spielberg's upcoming untitled sci-fi 'event film' will now release on June 12, 2026, instead of the originally planned May 15, 2026.
The new date moves the film away from direct competition with Disney’s 'Avengers: Doomsday' (May 1, 2026) and 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' (May 22, 2026).
The film will share its release date with a 'Scary Movie' reboot and open a week before Pixar's 'Toy Story 5' (June 19, 2026).
The project features a high-profile cast including Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson, with a screenplay by Spielberg collaborator David Koepp.
Universal also delayed the next film from 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, with a new date to be announced soon.
