• The 250-seat Steven Spielberg Theater opened June 26 within The Commons, an 84,000-square-foot building that resembles a spinning film reel.
• During Thursday’s dedication, Spielberg declared he has “no plans…ever…to retire” and shared enthusiasm for future movies in genres ranging from Westerns to sci-fi.
• Attendees included NBCUniversal executives Brian Roberts and Mike Cavanagh alongside actors such as John Travolta, Vin Diesel, Seth Rogen and Ava DuVernay.
• The venue boasts state-of-the-art technology, including Dolby Vision 4K, Dolby Atmos sound and projection capabilities for 35mm and 70mm film formats.
