Chicago Bears legend Steve McMichael, recently elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has been hospitalized with suspected pneumonia.
McMichael, who is battling ALS, was taken to the emergency room of a suburban Chicago hospital.
The former defensive lineman was diagnosed with ALS in January 2021 and has since lost his ability to move or speak.
McMichael played for the Bears from 1981 to 1993, contributing significantly to their 1985 Super Bowl championship season.
He is scheduled to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 3, as part of a class that includes former Bears Julius Peppers and Devin Hester.
