Stephan Sterns Charged with First-Degree Murder in Death of 13-Year-Old Madeline Soto

Florida authorities have officially charged Stephan Sterns following an extensive investigation into the disappearance and death of his girlfriend's daughter.

Stephan Sterns, 37, was charged with first-degree murder on April 24, 2024, in connection with the death of Madeline Soto, who was found dead on March 1 after being reported missing on February 26.
Sterns was previously arrested on charges of sexual battery and possession of child sexual abuse material, with evidence indicating abuse dating back to when Soto was 8 years old.
Florida State Attorney Andrew Bain has not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty for Sterns, with discussions ongoing.
