Stellantis Unveils New 'STLA Large' Platform for Upcoming Electric Vehicles

The flexible platform can handle various powertrains and will underpin eight new models by 2026, starting with Jeep and Dodge.

  • Stellantis, the automaker behind brands such as Jeep, Ram, Dodge, and others, has announced a new large vehicle platform that is flexible enough to handle batteries and electric motors, gas-electric hybrids, and internal combustion engines.
  • The new platform, called 'STLA Large', will underpin the upcoming Jeep and Dodge electric vehicles and features up to 500 miles range and power that will outperform any of the existing Hellcat V-8s.
  • CEO Carlos Tavares has stated that the company has plans for two scenarios, one if populist candidates who are against EVs win, and the other if EV-friendly candidates are elected.
  • Stellantis plans to launch eight vehicles using the STLA Large platform over the next two years, with the first ones being Jeep and Dodge models, followed by Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati.
  • The company is investing more than 50 billion euros over the next decade to reach 100 per cent electric passenger car sales in Europe and 50 per cent car and light truck electric mix in the U.S. by 2030.
