Overview
- Stellantis said the recall covers about 848,000–850,000 vehicles in the United States and roughly 955,000 worldwide across 2026–2027 Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram models.
- The fault stems from radio software that can intermittently stop the rearview camera image from appearing on the vehicle’s media screen and will be fixed with an over-the-air radio software update that prompts owners on their screens.
- Stellantis, which announced the recall Monday, said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries tied to the defect and advised drivers to use rearview and side mirrors if the camera image does not appear.
- The company will mail formal recall notices beginning in September, provided customer support contacts and a recall website, and the NHTSA posting had not yet appeared on the regulator’s online database at the time of reporting.
- The campaign highlights how shared infotainment platforms can spread a single software bug across brands and how over-the-air fixes are becoming the primary remedy, a shift that raises questions about rollout timing, owner notification and regulatory tracking.
