Stellantis Recalls 298,000 Dodge Darts for Rollaway Risk Tied to Shifter Cable

Dealer notifications begin Oct. 16, followed by owner letters in early November.

Overview

  • The recall covers 298,439 Dodge Dart cars from model years 2013–2016, with affected vehicles built between February 2012 and October 2016.
  • The defect involves a transmission shift cable that can detach, preventing the selector from locking into Park and creating a rollaway hazard.
  • Stellantis says a hardware remedy is still in development and plans to notify owners between Nov. 6 and Nov. 13 after dealers are alerted.
  • The action follows a 2019 recall addressing similar cable bushing failures and renewed NHTSA scrutiny, and it is now listed as recall 25V674000.
  • As an interim precaution, owners are advised to use the parking brake and verify Park, and as of Sept. 24 the company reported no related crashes or injuries.
