Stefan Leitl Named New Head Coach of Hertha BSC

Leitl replaces Cristian Fiél after a series of defeats left Hertha struggling to avoid relegation in the 2. Bundesliga.

• Stefan Leitl, former Hannover 96 coach, has been appointed head coach of Hertha BSC with a contract until 2027.
• Leitl succeeds Cristian Fiél, who was dismissed after four consecutive losses and eight months in charge.
• Hertha BSC, initially aiming for promotion, has fallen to 13th place in the league and is now just five points above the relegation zone.
• Leitl brings experience, having previously led Greuther Fürth to Bundesliga promotion and managed Hannover 96 until late 2024.
• The new coach will be assisted by André Mijatović, a former Hertha player and captain of their 2011 promotion team.
