The surge in players is speculated to be due to time off work over the New Year break, as well as the recently released Steam Deck.
Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 were among the most popular games during this peak period.
Steam has been on a record-breaking streak, hosting over 14,000 games in 2023, a total that surpasses any previous year.
