Steam Adds Developer-Controlled Achievement Sets in Beta

Valve says the Beta groups achievements, archives time-limited challenges, preserves set-complete trophies, refreshes the achievements page for clearer progress.

Overview

  • Valve pushed the Achievement Sets feature to the Steam Beta client on October 15, 2026, and is asking developers and players to test it and share feedback.
  • Developers can now organize a game's achievements into named sets to separate base game goals from DLC, season passes, or class- or mode-specific challenges.
  • Each set shows its own progress bar and awards a set-complete trophy to users who finish every item in that set, with completion preserved if a developer later adds new achievements.
  • Studios can archive single achievements or whole sets so time-limited or seasonal content no longer affects other players’ completion totals while keeping unlocked items visible to those who earned them.
  • The update includes a redesigned achievements page that consolidates overall progress, per-set progress and individual achievement details, and wider rollout will depend on beta feedback from the Steam community.
