Status Yellow Fog Warning in Place for 11 Counties This Morning

Conditions are set to improve after sunrise as fog lifts and milder air moves in before a wetter, windier Sunday.

Overview

  • Met Éireann’s fog alert runs from 5am to 10am for parts of the midlands and east with sharply reduced visibility.
  • Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath and Wicklow are covered by the warning.
  • Forecasters cite dense fog and hazardous driving; the Road Safety Authority urged checks on lights and caution on roads.
  • Saturday is forecast to turn milder with highs of 7–11°C as fog clears to sunny spells and scattered showers, with drizzle later in the south and west.
  • Further Status Yellow alerts are due: rain for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 9pm Saturday to 9pm Sunday, and wind for Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Galway from 6am to 2pm Sunday, with a separate Wicklow wind alert from 10am to 5pm Sunday.
