Statue of Spencer, the Beloved Boston Marathon Dog, Unveiled in Ashland

Spencer, the golden retriever known for supporting Boston Marathon runners, has been honored with a statue in Ashland, Massachusetts.
The statue was unveiled in a ceremony attended by Spencer's owner, Rich Powers, and about 150 people, marking it as an emotional tribute to the dog's legacy.
Spencer, who passed away in February 2023 after battling cancer, was named the official dog of the Boston Marathon by the Boston Athletic Association in 2022.
The bronze statue, created by local sculptor Jeff Buccacio, is located near Spencer's favorite spot on the marathon route.
The initiative to erect a statue in Spencer's honor was supported by fans through fundraising, and the statue found a permanent home thanks to land donated by local residents Robin and Cynthia Hicks.
