• Stephen John Nichols, 63, of Madison, died after being thrown from his BMW F650GS in a collision Wednesday.
• The crash occurred just after 4:30 p.m. on East Haddam Colchester Turnpike at the intersection with Starr Road and Olmstead Road, according to state police.
• Police say a 2015 Toyota Tacoma traveling south on Starr Road attempted a left turn onto Olmstead Road as Nichols was heading west.
• The motorcycle struck the truck’s front left side and Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene.
• The Tacoma’s driver reported no apparent injuries and the investigation remains ongoing.
