State Police ID Wrong-Way Driver Killed in I-90 Head-On Near Utica
Troopers tracked the Jeep for 12 miles from the opposite side of the highway.
Overview
- Authorities identified the deceased driver as Quinntin Walker, 35, of Ithaca, who died at the scene near Exit 32.
- The collision happened shortly after 2:25 a.m. when a 2018 Jeep traveling east in the westbound lanes struck a 2018 Ford F-250 head-on.
- The Ford’s driver, Mark Jean, 47, of Fulton, was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital and is in a medically induced coma.
- Passenger Nicholas Malone, 46, of Syracuse, was also flown to Upstate University Hospital and remains in critical condition.
- Two Mercy Flight helicopters responded, westbound lanes were closed for hours and later reopened by late morning, and the investigation is ongoing.
