- Douglas County requested a Grappler unit but none were close, so the Colorado State Patrol dispatched a trooper equipped with the device.
- The trooper deployed the Grappler to stop the car near Larkspur, and the driver was taken into custody without injury; authorities have not released the driver’s identity or possible charges.
- The Grappler uses front-mounted cables to latch onto a vehicle; CSP says it has 26 units statewide and 72 successful uses since August 2021, and the developer cites more than 50 agencies and over 600 grapples nationwide.
