State Memorial for Former B.C. Premier John Horgan Scheduled for December 15

The public memorial will honor Horgan's political legacy and contributions, following his death at 65 after battling cancer.

The provincial state memorial for former B.C. premier John Horgan will take place on December 15 at the Q Centre in Colwood, near Victoria.
Horgan passed away on November 12, 2024, at the age of 65, following his third bout with cancer, including a recent diagnosis of thyroid cancer in June.
The service will feature religious elements led by Rev. Dr. Keith Howard, musical performances, and speeches from dignitaries, including Premier David Eby and Lt.-Gov. Janet Austin.
Horgan served as B.C.'s premier from 2017 to 2022, leading the NDP to a majority government in 2020 and enacting significant affordability and crisis management policies.
After stepping down as premier, Horgan was appointed Canada's ambassador to Germany in 2023 but took medical leave earlier this year.
