Overview
- Several states have confirmed official school holidays between September 21 and September 23, 2026 based on their 2026 holiday calendars and recent government notices.
- Kerala listed September 21 for Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi, Rajasthan listed September 21 for Ramdev Jayanti and related observances, Assam and Jharkhand listed September 22 and 23 for Janmotsav/Karam or Karma Puja, and Haryana listed September 23 for Shaheedi Diwas.
- The Indian Meteorological Department issued unsettled weather warnings for parts of the country, but IMD advisories do not automatically close schools and any weather-driven orders must come from state or district administrations.
- State holiday orders generally apply to government and government‑aided institutions while private, unaided and some centrally run schools may follow separate academic calendars, so parents should check official school channels like WhatsApp groups, school apps, websites or district circulars.
- Because many orders were preannounced in state calendars and some weather risks can trigger short‑notice local decisions, families should expect varied schedules across districts and watch for updates affecting transport, exams or childcare plans.
