State Department Expands Passport Fairs Nationwide

New events aim to streamline in-person applications as online renewals continue for eligible travelers.

The U.S. State Department has announced additional passport fairs across multiple states, running through March 2025.
These fairs cater to first-time applicants and minors under 16, with locations including libraries, civic centers, and government buildings.
Applicants can choose between routine processing (4–6 weeks) and expedited service (2–3 weeks for an extra $60).
Online passport renewals, launched last year, are available for eligible individuals aged 25 and older with recently expired passports.
Processing of passport applications selecting 'X' as a gender marker is currently suspended following a recent executive order limiting gender recognition to male and female options.
