Overview

  • CBSE has permanently revised its policy under Circular No. Acad-03/2019 to let Class 10 Basic Mathematics students enroll in Class 11 Standard Mathematics beginning in the 2025–26 academic year.
  • The change makes pandemic-era concessions permanent after allowing Basic Math pupils to switch tracks during school closures.
  • Schools are charged with evaluating student aptitude and must finalize subject selections in the List of Candidates, after which no alterations are permitted.
  • CBSE has instructed schools to notify parents and students about the updated policy to ensure informed course decisions.
  • The guideline remains effective until the National Curriculum Framework for School Education introduces a new mathematics syllabus.
