  • Five main cadets arrive from diverse backgrounds, including Caleb Mir, a human orphan; SAM, a newborn photonic hologram; Jay-Den Kraag, a Klingon medical hopeful; Darem Reymi, a pressured Khionian; and Genesis Lythe, an admiral’s Dar-Sha daughter.
  • Franchise veterans Robert Picardo, Tig Notaro and Oded Fehr return to Starfleet Academy, with Paul Giamatti portraying the half-Klingon antagonist Nus Braka.
