Starbucks Adds Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam to Permanent Menus Starting Sept. 29

The launch is part of a push to modernize the menu under the Back to Starbucks strategy.

Overview

  • Protein offerings roll out across U.S. and Canada with cold foam and a new latte line made using protein-boosted milk.
  • Protein Cold Foam adds about 15 grams as a customization, bringing grande iced drinks to roughly 19–26 grams of protein.
  • Protein Lattes are listed at approximately 27–36 grams of protein per grande, with flavors spanning banana, vanilla, chocolate, matcha, brown sugar, salted caramel, plain, and seasonal pumpkin and pecan.
  • Baristas will prepare protein-boosted milk daily by blending 2% milk with unflavored dairy-based protein powder for use in lattes and other milk-based drinks.
  • Starbucks cites rising demand for high-protein options, noting growth tracked by Datassential and Innova, following a limited test of banana protein cold foam earlier this year.
