Starbucks Adds Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam to Permanent Menu on Sept. 29

The chain says the protein push is part of a menu modernization effort to win back customers.

Overview

  • Starting Sept. 29, all Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada will offer Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam as permanent menu items.
  • Grande Protein Lattes contain about 27 to 36 grams of protein, while adding Protein Cold Foam contributes roughly 15 grams and yields about 19 to 26 grams in iced drinks topped with it.
  • Cold foam flavors include banana, vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, brown sugar, and plain, with seasonal options such as pumpkin and pecan and choices that are sweetened, sugar-free, or unsweetened.
  • Baristas will make protein-boosted milk daily by blending 2% milk with unflavored protein powder, and customers can request it in milk-based beverages or add protein cold foam to any cold drink.
  • Executives describe the launch as part of the Back to Starbucks turnaround strategy tied to menu innovation, and the company did not disclose pricing.
