Starbucks Adds Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam Across U.S. and Canada Starting Sept. 29

The company casts the high-protein drinks as a menu modernization move to reenergize customer traffic.

Overview

  • Protein Lattes and Protein Cold Foam become permanent offerings on Sept. 29 at Starbucks locations in the United States and Canada, with pricing not disclosed.
  • A grande Protein Latte contains about 27 to 36 grams of protein, while beverages topped with Protein Cold Foam total roughly 19 to 26 grams per grande.
  • Protein Cold Foam flavors include banana (new), vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, brown sugar and plain, with seasonal pumpkin and pecan options.
  • Baristas will blend 2% milk with unflavored protein powder in stores to make protein-boosted milk, which customers can substitute into milk-based drinks to add about 12 to 16 grams of protein per grande.
  • The rollout follows a Starting Five pilot that tested banana Protein Cold Foam in five stores and forms part of CEO Brian Niccol’s “Back to Starbucks” menu modernization strategy.
