Starbreeze Studios Announces New Dungeons & Dragons Game, Project Baxter

Set for a 2026 release, the cooperative multiplayer game will feature cross-play and a Games as a Service model.

Starbreeze Studios, known for games such as Payday 3, has announced a partnership with Wizards of the Coast to develop and publish a new cooperative multiplayer game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons, codenamed Project Baxter.
Project Baxter, slated for release in 2026, will be developed in Unreal Engine 5 and will feature the signature Starbreeze game elements of cooperative multiplayer, a Games as a Service model, community engagement, and a larger than life experience.
The game is expected to launch on all major platforms and will feature cross-play.
Starbreeze's latest release, Payday 3, faced server issues at launch, raising concerns about the quality of Project Baxter.
Despite the challenges, Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren expressed excitement about the partnership with Dungeons & Dragons and confidence in delivering a world-class action-adventure game.
