Star of the Seas Embarks on Maiden Voyages as World’s Largest Cruise Ship

The voyage underscores Royal Caribbean’s shift to megaships with record-scale waterparks alongside a choice of dedicated family or adults-only neighborhoods.

Overview

  • At 20 decks and over 1,000 feet long, Star of the Seas carries 2,805 staterooms and more than 5,600 guests, matching its sister ship as the world’s largest cruise vessel.
  • The ship commenced its inaugural passenger voyages from Port Canaveral, Florida, in mid-August.
  • Its Thrill Island waterpark features six record-breaking slides including the 46-foot Frightening Bolt, plus a ropes course, FlowRider surf simulator and mini golf.
  • Chill Island offers seven pools including the Royal Bay—the largest at sea—10 whirlpools, the adults-only Hideaway suspended infinity pool and a swim-up bar called Swim and Tonic.
  • Guests can dine at over 40 venues and 20 bars and enjoy high-production entertainment from Broadway-style musicals to ice arena shows.
