Overview

  • Reich announced the decision Monday, with Gulbranson winning the camp battle over redshirt freshman Elijah Brown ahead of Saturday’s opener at Hawaii.
  • The interim coach cited command of the offense, accuracy, arm strength, decision-making and poise as the decisive factors.
  • Gulbranson transferred in late April after being recruited by Stanford general manager Andrew Luck and has been learning from both Luck and Reich.
  • He went 7-1 as Oregon State’s starter in 2022, including a late 56-yard touchdown at Stanford, and has logged 2,648 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 18 games.
  • Stanford returns little offensive production from last season, placing a premium on Gulbranson’s experience to steady a young unit.
