Overview

• Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Rs 115 crore Tambaram Sanatorium hospital in Chengalpattu district on August 9, boosting emergency and in-patient services.
• He also opened new buildings at the Chengalpattu District Government Headquarters Hospital (₹110 crore), a suburban dental college branch (₹7.24 crore), an integrated public health laboratory (₹1 crore) and three Urban Primary Health Centres in Pammal (₹90 lakh).
• The government distributed free housing plots valued at Rs 1,672.52 crore to 20,021 beneficiaries, part of a four-year programme that has allotted over 17.7 lakh plots since 2021.
• Stalin highlighted Tamil Nadu’s 11.19% economic growth rate—the highest in 14 years—as proof of the DMK’s ‘Dravidian Model 2.0’ focus on balanced development.
• Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami has criticised the DMK’s record despite its healthcare and housing expansions ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
