Stalin Presents Kalaignar Award, Unveils Classical Tamil Publications on Karunanidhi’s 102nd Birth Anniversary

Overview

  • Chief Minister M. K. Stalin presented the 2025 Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Classical Tamil Award to scholar Thayammal Aravanan, accompanied by a ₹10 lakh cheque and a citation plaque.
  • He released two Central Institute of Classical Tamil publications: Tamil Vinayadigal – Varalatru Mozhiyiyal Ayvu by Rajendran Sankaravelayuthan and Sanga Ilakkiya Solvalam by P. R. Subramanian.
  • The state government provided enhanced financial aid to Tamil scholars M. Chakkaravarthi, R. Mohanasundaram, Bhanumathi (Aathira Mullai), A. Idayageetham Ramanujam and N. Sundari.
  • Earlier ceremonies included floral tributes at Kalaivanar Arangam, Anna Square and the Omandurar Government Estate to honour Karunanidhi’s legacy.
  • June 3 was designated Classical Language Day nationwide after a DMK general council resolution on June 1 to promote Tamil heritage and culture.
