Stalin Predicts AIADMK Rout in Western Tamil Nadu After Udumalpet Project Launch

The Supreme Court’s dismissal of an AIADMK petition over the Ungaludan Stalin scheme has strengthened the DMK’s push in western districts.

Overview

  • At Udumalpet, Stalin inaugurated 61 completed projects worth ₹949.53 crore, laid foundations for 35 new initiatives including a mini Tidel Park, and distributed ₹295.29 crore to 19,785 beneficiaries.
  • He cited the revival of five stalled overbridge projects in Tiruppur and the Athikadavu-Avinashi drinking water scheme as proof of DMK performance in the west.
  • Stalin warned that the AIADMK will face its worst electoral defeat in western Tamil Nadu, challenging Palaniswami’s choice to launch his campaign in what was considered a party stronghold.
  • The Supreme Court rejected the AIADMK’s challenge to the ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ welfare scheme and ordered the petitioner to pay ₹10 lakh in costs, a ruling Stalin called a political triumph.
  • He accused Edappadi K. Palaniswami of harbouring a “delusion” that voters equate him with past leaders M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa and vowed to let development outcomes speak for the DMK.
