• Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated the initiative at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai on September 15 and handed out scholarships and laptops to students.
• Eligible beneficiaries include children who have lost both parents or those with a single parent unable to support their education.
• Each child will receive Rs 2,000 monthly until they turn 18 to reduce dropouts and ensure completion of school education.
• The scheme is nested within the Thayumanavar umbrella, aligning child support with broader state welfare and poverty alleviation efforts.
• Stalin also led floral tributes to C. N. Annadurai on his birth anniversary in Chennai, with ministers and MLAs joining the commemoration.
