Stalin Heralds 'Dravidian Model 2.0' On RBI-Backed Growth And Welfare As BJP Alleges Corruption

The chief minister told cadres to take the government's record to every home ahead of the 2026 Assembly election.

Overview

  • Tamil Nadu recorded 16% nominal GSDP growth with output at ₹31.19 lakh crore and about ₹10.5 lakh crore added since 2021, citing RBI data that placed the state ahead of peers.
  • Per-capita GSDP was reported at roughly ₹3.62 lakh, with officials crediting manufacturing, renewables, electronics and services for recent gains.
  • The government expanded the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai by 17 lakh new beneficiaries to more than 1.30 crore women, with ₹1,000 delivered monthly to each recipient.
  • Stalin framed a long-term agenda as 'Dravidian Model 2.0', saying Tamil Nadu would aim to rank first across sectors by 2031 and urging door-to-door outreach during electoral roll revisions.
  • In a fresh exchange, Stalin rejected Amit Shah’s claim that the BJP could win the state, while the BJP accused the DMK of corruption and governance failures in a rebuttal issued on December 15.
