Overview

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin told Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan he will skip the Global Ayyappa Sangamam citing personal commitments and will be represented by P. T. R. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan and P. K. Sekar Babu.
  • The inaugural gathering is scheduled for September 20 at Pampa in Pathanamthitta, organised by the Travancore Devaswom Board with the Kerala government to project Sabarimala as a global pilgrimage center.
  • Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar urged workers to block Stalin, Vijayan and Udhayanidhi Stalin unless they apologised to Hindus, citing the 2018 Sabarimala agitation and past remarks on Sanatana Dharma.
  • Kerala ministers V. N. Vasavan and V. Sivankutty defended the invitation as inclusive and consistent with temple traditions while dismissing the BJP threats as bluster.
  • Organisers expect over 3,000 delegates and link the conclave to a Rs 1,300-crore Sabarimala development plan that includes proposed airport and rail projects targeted for 2028.
