Overview
- Authorities, market representatives and local residents have agreed to further feasibility assessments for a Cablebús Line 4 station on the Mercado Miguel Hidalgo site and scheduled field visits to define relocation steps.
- Cablebús Line 4 is confirmed as an 11.1-kilometer route linking Pedregal de San Nicolás with Ciudad Universitaria through eight stations and designed to carry up to 4,500 passengers per hour, serving an estimated 60,000–70,000 daily users.
- The project envisions a comprehensive reconstruction of Mercado Miguel Hidalgo with the station built into its new structure and a community-coordinated provisional market relocation during construction.
- Officials project the new line will ease congestion on major thoroughfares such as Insurgentes, Periférico and San Fernando, reduce travel times and lower pollutant emissions in Tlalpan’s southern neighborhoods.
- As part of the federal Cuarta Transformación infrastructure plan, Line 4 is expected to directly benefit over 155,000 residents across 44 pueblos, barrios and colonias while boosting local commerce and urban renewal.
