Overview
- A San Mateo man was stabbed shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 27 on the Redwood City Caltrain platform and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
- Caltrain closed southbound platforms at Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City, canceled one train, and reported 15–20 minute delays during the evening commute.
- The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said the incident appears isolated and posed no ongoing threat to the public.
- As of 8:40 p.m., investigators had not identified a suspect and the investigation remained active.
- Authorities asked anyone with information to contact Detective Nick Kostielney at [email protected] or 650-418-0094, and announced a new substation at nearby Sequoia Station to enhance security.
