Stabbing on Redwood City Caltrain Platform Injures Man, Triggers Commute Delays

  • A San Mateo man was stabbed shortly before 5 p.m. on Aug. 27 on the Redwood City Caltrain platform and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
  • Caltrain closed southbound platforms at Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City, canceled one train, and reported 15–20 minute delays during the evening commute.
  • The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said the incident appears isolated and posed no ongoing threat to the public.
  • As of 8:40 p.m., investigators had not identified a suspect and the investigation remained active.
