St. Louis Man Arrested for Damaging 'Angel of Harmony' Statue at Cathedral Basilica

The 14-foot sculpture, symbolizing racial harmony, was knocked off its pedestal using construction equipment.

Police arrested a 35-year-old suspect after he used a boom lift to damage the 'Angel of Harmony' statue outside the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis.
The statue, depicting a Black angel protecting three multicultural children, was installed in 1999 and features over 100 wind chimes on its wings.
Part of one of the children and the wings of the statue were broken, and church leaders hope it can be restored.
The suspect also fired a gunshot at a parked car before being apprehended by police with the help of a police dog.
St. Louis Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski emphasized the statue's significance as a symbol of unity and expressed hope for its restoration.
