St. Louis Cardinals Sign Veteran Pitcher Phil Maton to One-Year Deal

The 31-year-old right-hander joins the Cardinals after a strong 2024 season split between the Mets and Rays.

Known for his control and spin rate, Maton recorded a career-high 18 holds in 2024 and achieved a 1.11 WHIP across the season.
The Cardinals designated left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn for assignment to make room for Maton on their 40-man roster.
Maton, a native of Central Illinois, brings eight years of MLB experience and has appeared in 26 postseason games, including the 2021 World Series.
