St. John’s Defeats Marquette, Extends Winning Streak to 9 Games

St. John’s secured a 70-64 victory over No. 11 Marquette at Madison Square Garden, marking their ninth consecutive win and improving their record to 20-3 overall and 11-1 in the Big East.
The Red Storm dominated the offensive glass, grabbing 21 offensive rebounds and out-rebounding Marquette by 22, which helped offset their poor shooting from both the three-point line and free-throw line.
Head coach Rick Pitino praised his team’s effort and defensive prowess, with St. John’s holding Marquette to one of their worst offensive performances of the season.
Kadary Richmond played a pivotal role, contributing 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists, continuing his strong recent form after transferring from Seton Hall.
