St. John's coach Pitino throws ceremonial first pitch to former star Mitchell at Subway Series

Rick Pitino, the new head basketball coach at St. John's, threw out the first pitch at the New York Yankees vs. New York Mets Subway Series baseball game.
Pitino threw the pitch to Donovan Mitchell, a former star player under Pitino at Louisville, whose father works for the Mets.
Pitino practiced the pitch and wore a St. John's baseball jersey, showing his excitement to be coaching in New York again.
The crowd gave Pitino, a native New Yorker and longtime baseball fan, a warm welcome at the game.
St. John's recently hired Pitino from Iona and signed top recruit Simeon Wilcher, hoping to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 under their new coach.
