St. Augustine Smoke Shop Kidnap Suspect Now Facing DUI and Fleeing Charges

  • On June 29 around 3:30 p.m., Theodore Michael Tundidor allegedly robbed a smoke shop on SR 206 East and tried to force a female employee into his vehicle.
  • Surveillance video released by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office shows Tundidor dragging the employee by the neck and attempting to push her into a stolen pickup.
  • The victim’s screams and struggle drew the attention of a bystander whose intervention forced the suspect to abandon the abduction attempt.
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife officers later pulled over the stolen truck for reckless driving about 10 miles south of St. Augustine and arrested Tundidor.
  • Tundidor—whose pickup was taken in Jacksonville—was charged with kidnapping, robbery and grand theft auto and now faces additional DUI and fleeing and eluding counts.
